Regional Meetings
These meetings will deepen the engagement of key stakeholders by exploring how the challenges of expanding bioenergy use are being addressed at the state, local, and regional levels. These regional dialogues have a dual purpose. The first is to help understand regional specific issues that ought to be reflected in national policy development and implementation. The second is to serve as a convener of important strategic discussions within each regional dialogue. For this reason, we are working very closely with local stakeholders to shape agendas and participation that reflects the diversity of perspectives and will focus the dialogue on regional strategies for the sustainable build-out of regional bioenergy capacity. Regional Meetings: Ensuring Forest Sustainability in the Development of Wood Biofuels and Bioenergy: The US South Objective: To identify common goals and objectives for environmentally sustainable development of wood biofuels/bioenergy industry in the US South; develop the basis for consistent and reliable estimates of sustainable woody biomass supply; and review regional and state efforts to develop safeguards for sustainable woody biomass production and harvesting.
