Program on Sustainable Development in Forest-Based Communities
Any successful forest conservation strategy must take into account
not only the forest, but the human communities that depend on it.
When communities find ways to derive sustainable income and employment
through sound, long-term forest stewardship, they are able to conserve
and protect their forests, thereby sustaining the basis for their own
livelihoods and rural quality of life.
Working with policymakers and directly with communities, we help
foster community-based forest stewardship that is ecologically sound,
economically viable and socially responsible.
